Things to do in Phoenix


Phoenix is a hotbed of activities in April. Here are just some of the festivals taking place in and around the city:

Ultimate Women’s Expo

An event on the last weekend of April where women can do one of their favorite activities: shopping. Also included in the expo are salon services, healthy living programs, cooking demos and more. The expo is the largest consumer expo in Arizona where women can learn, sample products and hear from personalities and celebrities. It runs from April 27-28, 10:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m., at the Phoenix Convention Center. For more details, visit their website.

Katsina Doll Marketplace

Hopi katsina doll carvers from all over gather at the Heard Museum on April 13 to showcase their creations and even give carving demonstrations. Also included are traditional Hopi music performances. A must-see for those who would like to experience the local native Hopi art and culture. More info on their website

Birds ‘N’ Beer

If nature and drinking is what is natural to you then this is for you. This event is a lively “happy-hour” style presentation of local birds and other wildlife while featuring local craft beer and wine. Head over to Rio Salado Audubon Center at 5:30 p.m. on April 18. You can discuss the state of the wildlife and conservation efforts with fellow enthusiasts over beer and wine. Visit their site for more details.

Things to do in Tucson


A host to many events and festivals, Tucson is the place to be this month if you want to immerse yourself in the Arizona culture whether it be food, tequila production or music.

Taste of Oro Valley

An evening of food, drinks and music showcasing local restaurants and the music by the Five Way Street band. Gambling tables are also set up during the event. The Taste of Oro Valley is held to raise funds for local charities and for the scholarship of local students.This event will be hosted by the Oro Valley Rotary Club at the Steam Pump Ranch on April 7, 2019.

Agave Heritage Festival

This festival is composed of a series of 26 events covering topics from tequila production to the culinary use of the Agave. There will be talks, demonstrations and tastings will be held in different locations in Tucson between April 23 through May 6, 2019.

Tucson International Mariachi Conference

Students from all over the world can learn music and dance from Mariachi masters through workshops and performances. Even if you are not a Mariachi student, you can enjoy the performances during their public concerts. The conference runs from April 24 to April 27, 2019, at the Casino Del Sol Resort.
